Forest Investment Associates (FIA), organized in 1986, is a Registered Investment Adviser providing investment management services for institutional investors in timberland. Founders of the company pioneered investments in timberland for tax-exempt institutions.

Operating out of its Atlanta, Georgia headquarters, the staff of FIA manages timberland portfolios for major corporate pension plans, state and municipal retirement systems, charitable trusts and endowment funds. Each client’s separate timberland investment account contains properties diversified by geographic region as well as timber age, providing optimum long-term returns, stable cash flow and minimal portfolio risk. Separately managed accounts offer investors maximum flexibility in meeting their specific portfolio objectives.

Timberland management is performed by FIA’s own team of seasoned foresters, utilizing a long-term, hands-on approach. In addition to strong investment returns, clients expect FIA to provide high-quality management and practice good forest stewardship. To ensure timely, accurate portfolio valuations, FIA developed a state-of-the-art database to automate timberland accounting and reporting functions. This custom designed software, named "PowerTree," stores detailed information on each client property, as well as complete financial transaction data. In addition to generating client statements and reports, PowerTree provides management foresters with up-to-the-minute information for budget analysis.
