Atlanta, GA – Forest Investment Associates (FIA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael L. Clutter will be joining FIA as Vice President and Director of Research & Investment Strategy effective January 5, 2015.

Dr. Clutter will be based in FIA’s Atlanta, Georgia Headquarters. He will play an important role in enhancing FIA’s acquisition efforts, contributing significantly to timberland management decision making, assisting with marketing and will initiate high-quality research projects.
About Dr. Michael Clutter
Dr. Michael Clutter recently resigned his position as Dean of the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at The University of Georgia (UGA), a position he had held since 2007. Prior to joining the Warnell School in 2001 as the Hargreaves Distinguished Professor of Forest Finance, Mike held senior positions in the forest products industry with Union Camp Corporation, Georgia- Pacific and The Timber Company. Dr. Clutter holds a bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Mississippi State University and his master’s degree and Ph.D. from UGA.
He was inducted into the Georgia Foresters Hall of Fame in 2009.
Dr. Clutter is an authority on forest economics, finance, management and budgeting. He brings more than 30 years of corporate and academic forestry experience to FIA, including his expertise on private timberland ownership, capital budgeting techniques and growth and yield modeling. Mike has published countless articles and white papers on forestry and timberland investing. Previously for FIA, Mike served as an Advisory Council Member for FIA Timber Partners, which manages FIA’s commingled investment funds.
